Before purchasing your new feline companion, you will need to create a checklist of the things that your cat will need. The resources and materials needed for your pet cat can vary depending on age. Here are a few examples of some things you will need. Links for the pictured products are also given, if you are interested in buying any of them!
Bed

Bono Fido Self-warming Dog and Cat Bed Small

There is a variety of different pet beds that you can buy for your cat, or you can simply use a pillow or another soft surface that your cat can lie on comfortably. The cushion/pillow should also be fairly firm to provide your pet some comfort for its joints.
Food/water Bowls

Dinner & Drinks White Ceramic Pet Food Bowl Set–Squishy Cheeks
https://squishycheeks.com/products/dinner-drinks-white-ceramic-pet-food-bowl-set-
You can buy a water and food bowl online or at a pet store, or you can use a regular ceramic or heavier wooden bowl. Whatever you decide to use should be heavy enough so that it does not tip over. (You will not enjoy cleaning up the spills every day!) You can also buy a double-bowl that will hold both the food and the water. This is not exactly recommended, as the cat may become picky if its food spills into its water bowl, and vice versa.
Litter box

Purina Tidy Cats 21″ White Breeze Hooded Starter Kit Litter Box

A litter box can be found at most local pet supply stores, or can be purchased online. It is a good idea to consider buying a litter box that can contain the smell that will be produced. (The odor can get quite strong, especially that of unneutered males.) Be wise about the litter that you choose also (less mess is the best)!
Cat food

Purina Cat Chow Dry Cat Food, Healthy Weight & Hairball Indoor Whole Grain Chicken, 20 lb Bag–Walmart

The right cat food can vary on the cat’s age and if it has special needs. Elderly cats will need a diet with a higher concentration of protein than that of regular adult cat food. Kittens will need to be given wet food at first and then should be introduced to dry food as they mature. Talk to your vet before purchasing any particular foods or products, however.
Grooming items

Catit Senses 2.0 Self Groomer Cat Brush–Chewy
https://www.chewy.com/catit-senses-20-self-groomer-cat/dp/178223
Grooming is essential for maintaining a cat’s healthy fur. A cat with longer fur will have to be groomed quite often, so perhaps consider this before buying a very fluffy cat. The cat will also have to be washed regularly. Talk to your vet about regular grooming and additional healthcare advice.
Toys/games

KONG Naturals Straw Balls Cat Toy, Straw Balls, 2-pack–Chewy
Cats will need a variety of toys and games to keep them busy, otherwise they will likely get bored easily, and are more likely to destroy things in your home. Remember, cats like toys that fall apart, so don’t waste your money on anything durable. Toys can also be made from scratch, which is a great way to save money! Some more information on cat toys and games you can play with your cat can be found with this link: https://kittentummies.wordpress.com/2023/11/09/10-fun-activities-for-your-cat/
Cat carrier

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/retriever-pet-carrier-24-in
A cat carrier may be necessary if you ever need to transport your feline, whether you are taking it to the vet, or bringing it along on a vacation. Make sure that any carrier you buy has enough room for the size of your pet.
Treats 😋😋

Meow Mix Irresistibles Cat Treats – Soft with White Meat Chicken, 12-Ounce Bag–Walmart

Treats are great way to remind your cat of how much you appreciate it. Treats should be given in moderation. You don’t want your cat to gain too much weight!
